Note that the 1943 Allied landings in southern Italy led to total
war against north Italy's Nazi-Fascist R.S.I. during all 1944 until April- May 1945. Postmarks
during that period are mostly limited to north Italy's renegade R.S.I. (see 'Nazi-Fascism' above) while postmarks in Allied occupied southern Italy are very scarce, even rare. After the war, the Allied Military Government (A.M.G.) required all 'fasces' to be removed from
Italy's stamps. Then, Italy's post-office system was allowed to resume normal services in Sept-Oct 1945. Among the postcards below are a few rare exceptions and a very nice commemorative
of the Venice philatelic convention of 22 Sept 1945 serving as an announcement that stamp-collecting is back!

Victor Perantoni and his philatelist
friends relished trading letters and postcards between Italy and Australia, for the required higher postage denominations usually led to philatelic collectibles of higher values.
